Compounded Medicine Frequently Asked Questions

  • I'm on regular, non-compounded prescription medication. Can I get my normal scripts and pharmacy products at Keperra Compounding Pharmacy?

Yes. We are a PBS-approved Terry White Chemmart Pharmacy with experienced community pharmacy staff who provide exceptional pharmacy services alongside our specialist compounding labs.

  • I took my prescription to my local pharmacy, and they told me it needed to be made at a compounding pharmacy. What is a compounding pharmacy?

Compounding pharmacies custom-make medications that aren't available off the shelf. There are a number of reasons that medications need to be compounded. Your medication may be discontinued or may not be available in the required strength or dosage form. For example, paediatric medicines that are only available in tablet form can often be compounded into a suspension.

  • How long will it take to make my medication?

Keperra Compounding Pharmacy offers same-day or next-day turnaround on most medications if you place your order before 10:00 a.m. on weekdays. We take pride in our friendly, efficient service.

  • Can I wait in the store while you make my compounded medication?

A compounded medication is made especially for you from your doctor's prescription. Compounded medications will be made as soon as possible by our skilled compounding technicians and pharmacists. However, this customised process does take time, so it's best to leave your prescription with us and wait to be notified when it's ready (usually within 24 hours).

  • I don't live close by; can I order my medication over the phone or online?

Yes. Compounded prescriptions can be ordered using our online script ordering form, over the phone or via fax.

  • I can't pick up my medication in person. Do you deliver it?

Yes. We deliver compounded medications all over Australia by courier or express post. If it's your first time using the medication or there's been a change to your prescription, one of our specially trained compounding pharmacists will contact you by phone and provide information on your compounded medication.

  • I'm almost out of my compounded medication; how do I order a refill?

If you have a repeat on file with us, you can reorder by phone, text, email or our website. It's best to contact us a few days before you run out, especially if you require delivery.

  • Can I get my Flu vaccination administered at Keperra Compounding Pharmacy?

Yes. You can purchase your Flu vaccination from the pharmacy without a prescription and have it administered by one of our accredited pharmacists in our clinic room. Conditions apply. Contact us for more details.

  • What are troches?

Troches are oral medications similar to lozenges. They are placed in the mouth (usually between the lip and gums) and are left to dissolve slowly. Troches can be made in a range of flavours.
